Honorable Venetta S. Tassopulos (Ret.) began her career as a Los Angeles County Public Defender, followed by civil practice and a United States Commissionership. During her term as Magistrate Judge, she was appointed by Chief Justices Burger and Rhenquist to two Judicial Conference Committees, served on Continuing Education of the Bar panels, and conducted seminars for magistrates on pre-trial litigation and mediation. Since retirement, Judge Tassopulos has served as Special Master in many complex cases and as mediator and arbitrator in cases involving state and federal civil rights issues, contract and business litigation, insurance litigation, and copyright and patent infringement. She is a recipient of the ABA's Flaschner Award (1993).
